Rounds4Research Donations

To all of our Eastern Turfgrass Association members and sponsors,

I hope that everything is going well for you as the growing season begins. The directors on the Carolinas GCSA board are making another big push for R4R this year. In 2024 we set our goal of $150,000 and raised over $144,000 to fund turf research. Our goal as a Board in 2025 is to keep the great momentum of the past few years and eclipse the $160,000 mark. This seems like a lofty number but there are still many courses and clubs in the Carolinas that are not participating. Let’s change that in 2025!

All we are asking for is one foursome please. We are sending messaging out to the owners, club managers, and professionals as well to help alleviate any stress in asking for the donation.

Yes, some facilities restrict outside play – but you can always make a cash donation of the value of the same foursome to ensure your club is included in the list of those who gave. Given the year that we’ve had in parts of the Carolinas; we understand that a donation may be more appropriate for some facilities that wish to give, while facing difficulties.

Whatever the donation, it is an investment in better playing conditions and insurance against things that threaten golf course turf. Every donation does matter, and this program allows the opportunity for every facility to participate and help make a difference in our playing surfaces at home!

It just takes a couple of minutes to donate online at Rounds4Research.com

President’s Message

Hello friends and colleagues,

It is that beautiful time of year again. The grass is slowing down, the leaves are falling, and we have a little more time for planning and projects. It is also easier to make time to get away from the course for a meeting, and maybe even a round of golf. Your next opportunity to do so, and support the Eastern Association will be:

Tuesday, December 10th at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, NC

The schedule for the meeting will be as follows:

8:45am – Registration
9:30am – Annual Business Meeting
10:00am – Guest Speaker
11:00am – Lunch
12:00pm – Golf

Our guest speaker will be one of our own, a gentleman born and raised right here in Eastern NC, Dr. Fred Yelverton. He will be giving us a year in review of his work as the one of the agronomists with Carolinas Golf Association. Knowing Dr. Yelverton, we will likely get a wealth of useful information.

This meeting will also be our annual business meeting. We will be voting on the following slate of candidates submitted to me by the nominating committee:

Chris Dunn – President
Will Sutton – Vice President
Dale Edmonds – Treasurer
Rob Woods – Secretary
James Duke – Sgt. at Arms
Buckley Brockmann – Past President

Stanley Elliot – Board
Matthew Cox – Board
Chris Toppings – Board

We look forward to seeing everyone in Greenville on Dec 10th, and hopefully many of you at the Carolinas GCSA Conference and Trade show in Myrtle Beach next week. Safe travels!

Sincerely,
Buckley Brockmann
ENCTA President
