July-August 2015 President’s Newsletter

ENCTA Members and Colleagues:

Our April 16th meeting took place at Belmont Lake Preserve Golf Club in Rocky Mount, NC. Thanks to David Coley and his staff for the hospitality. Mr. Jim Schultes from A. C. Schultes spoke on Understanding Wells and Pump Stations. We also gave away a Lifetime Member reward to Mr. Robert Hinton.

Our fundraising tournament sponsored by Smith Turf & Irrigation took place on May 14th at Timberlake Golf Club in Clinton, NC. Thanks to Austin Allison and his staff for having the course in excellent condition. The team of Green Resource with ENCTA members Chris Pearson and Brian Green were the winners in a playoff; followed by the team of Revels Turf & Tractor with ENCTA members Neal Duff and Cam Copley. The teams from Southern Seeds, Cypress Landing and TSP rounded out the top five. Donnie Page and Richard Frazier were our longest drive winners and Les Bailey, CGCS and Mike Kennedy were our closest to the pin winners sponsored by Howard Fertilizer and ENCTA.

On June 19th our meeting at Reedy Creek Golf Course was cancelled (postponed) due to the weather (extreme heat). Mr. Mickey McCord from McCord Golf & Safety Services was going to speak on How to Develop Your Own Golf Course Safety Program. We have rescheduled Mickey for September; we will have a 2 hour meeting at Fallen Creek.

Andy Ipock hosted our family night at the Morehead City Marlins baseball game on July 16th. This event was sponsored by Vandemark Farms. This was a great opportunity to relax and spend time with our families.

Our next meeting will be a joint meeting with the Cape Fear Association at North Shore Golf Club in Sneads Ferry, NC. Matt Martin will be our speaker. In September we will have our Annual Golf Championship at Falling Creek Country Club hosted by Kyle Oakes and sponsored by Cardinal Chemical. Mr. Bill Anderson, CGCS from the Carolina Golf Association will be speaking on what we saw in the summer of 2015 and Mr. Mickey McCord from McCord Golf & Safety Services will be speaking on How to Develop Your Own Golf Course Safety Program. We would like to thank all of our 2015 sponsors and invite all of our members to our next few meetings.
